Brown Smokey Eye Tutorial

Brown Smokey Eye Tutorial Cassandra Lee
Recently I've loving some version of this brown smokey eye. Some days I'll make it very light and day time appropriate, however for this tutorial, I thought I'd show you how to really amp it up, for a night out. I was totally inspired by Ania Milczarzyk's trademark look, obviously mine is no where near as good as hers, which I absolutely love! Keep reading to find out how you too, can recreate this look.

The Foundation

For the base, I started off with the Napolean Perdis The One Concealer, which is in an orange shade, making it perfect to cover up my dark circles. Don't be too heavy handed when applying this type of product as you don't want the orange to show through your foundation. I then went in with the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, applying it with a damp sponge from Real Techniques. If you have a dry skin type like me, I wouldn't recommend this foundation as I do find it can get a little bit cakey around my mouth, nose and in between my brows, however uisng a damp sponge does help prevent this.

I wanted a little bit more coverage under my eyes, so I went in with the LA Girl Pro Conceal, before setting my face with the Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder in Translucent.

The Eyes

The eyes is where you can really make this look your own. I started off applying Creme Brulee from Makeup Geek, all over my eyelid, into my crease and slightly above my crease. (I have slightly hooded eyes, so if I don't take my eye makeup above my crease, you often can't see any of it when my eyes are open). Straight over the top of that, I applied Latte (also by Makeup Geek), making sure the two colours where blended well. I also took these two colours on a pencil brush and applied them to under eye, from outer corner to inner corner.

After that, I took Mocha and applied it in a V-shape on the outer corner of my eye, blending it through the crease, but keeping it off the mobile lid. Then take this same shade and apply it to the lower lashes, only on the outer third.

Apply mascara

Take a brown eye pencil and line the top and bottom water line, and finish the eyes with a few coats of mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.

The Brows

Brows

I have finally bitten the bullet, and got myself Anastasia Brow Wiz, so of course I had to use it in this look. So far I am enjoying this product, however not sure if it is really worth almost $40. My brow hairs are pretty unruly (as you can probably tell), so I always set them in place with a brow gel.

The Lips

I tossed between going for a neutral lip, or a brown. Brown won out, however a neutral lip goes perfectly too. I went with the Revlon Lipstick in Shade Sienna this is an old shade, however brown lips are huge at the moment so you should be able to find one you like easily.

The Final Touches

Contour placement Cassandra Lee

To finish the look I contoured my cheeks using the Australis On Tour Contouring Kit. To add some warmth to my face I used the Physicians Formula Multi Colored Bronzer, sweeping it along my cheekbones, hairline and down my neck.

For blush, I used Milani Dolce Pink. And it wouldn't be an Ania Milczarczyk inspired look without highlighter, I used the holy grail Mary-lou Manizer from the balm, on the top of my cheeks, nose, cupids bow and tear duct.

That's the final look. To make the look more daytime appropriate, don't apply the two darker eyeshadows and pair with a neutral lip. Let me know if you give this look a try.
