Travel Makeup Bag: Weekend Edition

Travel makeup

For those of you who follow me on Instagram and snapchat (cassie_ryan1310), you would have seen that I was down in Sydney last weekend to check out some of the amazing lights at Vivid Festival. I was only there for 3 nights so I didn't need to take too much with me, but I thought it might be interesting to share with you guys what I take in my beauty bag for a weekend getaway.

Skincare

When travelling I like to decant my products into travel size bottles to save on room and weight. I got mine from Priceline but you can find these kind of sets everywhere. I really like this particular set as it not only comes with bottles but also little tubs that are perfect for thicker products like moisturisers.

Garnier Micellar Water: This is what I've currently been using as my makeup remover. And while I haven't been using for too long, I do really enjoy it. It removes makeup easily and quickly and without irritation.

Skinstitut Gentle Cleanser: I'm so sad as I've almost run out of this product, and I've absolutely been loving it. Which is really unusual for me to say about a cleanser. Cleansers aren't something I typically repurchase as I tend to buy whatever and as long as they aren't stripping I'm happy. But there is something about this one that I adore. It is a foaming cleanser which I tend to avoid, but they have been able to formulate this so it doesn't strip and is incredibly gentle. So gentle in fact that I even use this over my eyes just to make sure there is no mascara left behind.

Neutrogena Hydra Boost Eye Cream: I usually only use this eye cream in the mornings as it is light and hydrating, I find it works great under my makeup. However, when travelling I don't want to be taking 2 different products, so I used this both day and night.

Nu'trir Hydrating Mineral SPF Day Cream: Another hydrating product (can you tell they're my favourite kind) this is a tinted moisturiser that absorbs quickly into my skin and includes SPF. That means one less product to chuck in the bag...Winning! I'm also able to apply my makeup straight over the top of this without waiting around for it to absorb.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Concentrate: Because this product contains Hyaluronic Acid, it was the perfect product to apply to rehydrate my skin after walking around the city all day (and drinking very little water, does anyone else struggle with this?).

Makeup

Working out what I was going to pack in terms of makeup was pretty easy this time round. As you've probably noticed I've been keeping my makeup very simple as of late.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation: I think most people have probably heard of the matte & poreless version of this product as it's gotten a lot of attention from bloggers and youtubers alike. Having a drier skin type I'm not a huge fan of matte foundations, and instead have been using the dewy and smooth formulation of the Fit Me foundation which has a lovely dewy finish to it.

LA Girl Pro Concealer: I am a total sucker when there is hype around a product. I have to try them ASAP. Sometimes the hype isn't worth it, however in the case of this concealer I can totally see why people are raving about it. At such an insanely affordable price it does a brilliant job at concealing my under eye dark circles.

Australis AC on Tour Palette: This palette is an all in one. With two setting powders, contouring shades, a bronzer and a highlight, this palette is perfect for travelling. Just make sure to set your foundation before using the contouring and bronzing shades as I find they blend a lot better.

Napolean Perdis Peep Show Mascara

NYX Brow Pencil: A quick mention to this product, as it wasn't in my beauty bag for long. I ran out of this product on the second day! Dam it! Why I didn't check this before I went I will never know. I did really enjoy this product and think it is a great affordable option for brows, however I want to try a few more higher end brow products before repurchasing this one.

Maybelline Brow Drama: I will admit, this isn't my favourite product in the world, I hate the brush and I do find the formula is a little bit crunchy. However, as someone who doesn't have a tonne of money I will continue to use this as it does look OK once its applied and it does do a good job at holding your brows in place. I am very thankful I did pack this as it was all I used on my brows for the majority of the time I was in Sydney.

Napoleon Perdis Peep Show Mascara: I'm not sure if you can still get this product as I got it at Christmas time as part of a gift set, but if you can get your hands on it, I think it is a great everyday mascara. It doesn't clump on me and does a great job at lengthening my lashes without being too overboard.

NYX cream blush: I've spoken about this blush on my blog before, so I'm not going to go into too much detail. I really like cream blushes as the blend effortlessly into your skin, and when you can just use your fingers its one less brush you have to carry with you.

Rimmel Stay Matte: What can you say about a powder. I use this pretty sparingly as I don't like my make up to look too matte. However I find this works really well at setting my foundation and helping it to last longer. I use it across my forehead, around my nose and mouth and a little over my cheeks.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick: If you've read any of my previous beauty posts, you will know this is my go to nude lipstick at the moment. And unfortunately I don't think you can get it anymore, so I will be on the hunt for a new one very soon. Any recommendations?

Sleek I-Divine Au Natural Palette: Another quick mention, as I didn't end up using this but I still wanted to add it as I think it is a great little palette for travelling. Compact and with a great range of natural colours, this is perfect for creating day and night looks.

As you can see, I keep things pretty simple when travelling just for a few days. It's taken me a while to get my travel makeup bag to this amount of products as I used to pack so much and use barely any of it. When I'm on holidays I like to keep things simple, quick and easy and don't tend to go too bold with my makeup. So this works really well for me.
