Simple Summer Makeup Routine

Summer Makeup Routine

While technically we may be in Autumn, the weather is still hanging on to the idea of hot sunny days with nearly everyday of March being over 30°C.

So in the attempt to keep my makeup from melting off my face, I've come up with a simple (and quick) makeup routine that is perfect for summer.

Easy summer makeup routine

I always begin with my base when doing makeup, unless going to a dramatic eye look, and for this I started by applying the La Roche-Posay 50+ Melt In Cream (sunscreen is a MUST during summer) to my entire face and neck. Following this, I went in with my L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Classic Ivory to cover up my dark circles and redness around my nose, and set it with a powder (I used the Australis AC on Tour Contouring Kit).

Of course if you have any blemishes or pigmentation that you want to cover, apply some of the concealer there too.

Sunkissed makeup

Next up, I applied some cream blush to my cheeks, using a stippling brush to blend the colour up along my cheekbones towards my hairline. I used the NYX Cream Blush in the shade Rose Petal, which I find on my skin tone gives me the perfect sun-kissed flush to my face, whilst still giving me a dewy finish.

I personally never leave the house without filling in my brows to some extent. It is my favourite part of makeup and I really enjoy shaping and spending time grooming my brows, so for this look I, of course wouldn't leave the brows out, but used a lighter hand to keep them looking natural ( I used the NYX Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown).

No foundation makeup

How I do my eye makeup really depends on my mood and the day. Sometimes I'll just add a bit of mascara, other times I'll put a bit of bronzer (or a eyeshadow in a neutral brown shade) to the crease, but today I decided to use Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, blending it all over the lid, before adding a quick coat of mascara on the top lashes.

No foundation makeup routine

To finish off the look, I dabbed some of my favourite nude lipstick, Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate in the shade 03, on my lips and blended it in with my finger for a natural finish.

And that's it. A super easy and quick makeup look perfect for summer days. Of course, makeup is always based on personal preference, and some of you may want more coverage. But I'd really encourage you to try and not use foundation. Not only do I find it is usually my foundation that slips and slides all over the place compared to the other products I use. But I also find, the fact that you can see some of my imperfections actually adds to this look.

Quick summer makeup look

If you want to see this look in different lighting and using different products for the eyes, check out some of my recent makeup photos on instagram. This has been pretty much the only type of makeup I've been wearing lately.
