Rediscovering My Personal Style

Blush outfit

Before I moved to Toowoomba, I used to wear heels all the time. Whether I was going to work, a night out or just spending a day shopping, you could take a pretty safe bet that I'd be in heels. That's how I liked it. It made me feel confident and happy.

But then I moved, and my beautiful heels where left neglected on the shelves of my wardrobe. And I'm not sure why I stopped wearing them. Maybe it was my way of sussing out the locals personal style before showing off mine, as a way of blending into a town where I knew no one.

How to wear blush

Toowoomba is not somewhere known for being a stylish city and that probably has something to do with the fact it prides its self on its agriculture rather then whether it is on the fashion world map. And therefore, I let my style take a step back in order to fit in. Know this may sound silly, but I'm really disappointed with myself for doing this. No wonder I have lost a bit of my self confidence over the last few years, when I have literally been changing the way I dress, the way I present myself to the world. I've always felt that fashion plays a huge role in our self esteem.

And so, after spending a weekend staring at my gorgeous shoe collection, I started questioning why the hell they hadn't been on my feet for almost 3 years.

And that is when I decided to put this outfit together. It wasn't for any particular occasion, I was just going into town for a quick shop. And surprise...I hadn't felt this much like myself in years.

So in an effort to get back to being me and what I love doing (the art of getting dressed), I'm making a pledge to myself that this year I'm going to remember what I loved about clothes and fashion and forget about what others think.

And you maybe be thinking, wait didn't this girl just do a post talking about flats and wanting to buy more of them. I haven't changed in that opinion, now I'm a mother, flats are still the more practical shoe for some occasions but there are still plenty of opportunities to wear heels too.

Have you ever subconsciously lost your fashion way? Do you even use fashion as a way to express yourself? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

    1. Good! I don't know how we'd go running around a park in heels tho. Lol.

  3. I can totally relate to this! The south coast is a different world to Sydney even though it's only 2 hours away, being freelance means spending day after day at home and I rarely dressed up. My mindset has changed this year too and it's amazing how the simple act of putting on heels can make you feel like a different person, even if it's just for running errands! Looking absolutely stunning hun! xox

    1. Thanks so much Nicky. I really believe that fashion effects over confidence etc, and it's such as easy way to change your outlook on the day.
