We only had one full day in Tokyo, which kind of sucked. It would have been awesome to have had more time, but that just means we will have to go back again.

Our first was to go see the Zojo-ji temple, which is situated next to the Tokyo tower. Unfortunately I didn't get the best photos of the outside as it was the most miserable day possible (and my hair did not agree with it - FRIZZ BALL) to go sight seeing, but we pushed through and while we did get a little bit wet it was well worth it.

I am not a spiritual person, but walking into this temple and smelling the incense burning, and seeing people walking in and out to say their daily prayers, touched even me.

The inside of the Zojo-ji temple was incredible! The detail and handiwork put into the shrine was beyond anything I've ever seen. I would have loved to have been able to go here while a ceremony was being held as I think it would be an amazing experience.

Once we had finished looking at the temple, we went for a walk to the bottom of the Tokyo Tower, on our way to an Owl cafe that the two boys wanted to go to... unfortunately that walk was in vain as we didn't realise you had make a booking for it. Oh well, we did get to see a lot of the streets, and also got to go to the Imperial palace. We could only walk around the outside as they were preparing for something, but it was amazing.

I don't think I have ever walked so much in my life! But there is no better way to experience a city. Our next day was mainly filled with travelling down to Kyoto, which I will put my highlights from there in my next post.
